Stairway to…….

April 27, 2012

I found this place in a trail guidebook.  It’s funny that I’ve been on the trails in this area a number of times and never made my way to this area.  It’s part of the remnants of an old public campground that closed many years ago.  Most people that hike in the area follow the river trail that leads to the waterfall.  On this particular trip, I decided to seek out the hillside trail and see what was left.

Beavertail Light

Springtime view of Beavertail Light in Jamestown, RI.  I finally scanned the negatives from my Holga and thought I’d upload this.

New Work

July 29, 2009

I hurt my knee shortly after taking this shot.  But I was already halfway down the trail, so I continued on.  Passed a couple skinny-dipping in the cove up near the point.  One of them heard my footsteps and said “We’ve got company,” but I didn’t pay any attention to them.  Maybe one of them would have posed for my class assignment!

So I’m sitting here in front of the computer with an ice pack on my knee, processing photographs and wondering how long I’m out of commission.  My last shoot for the Fine Art class went very well, except I need to edit down to 12 photographs.

Taken with a Canon 40D @ f/8 1/8 sec.

I went to photograph at Beavertail State Park recently, another place I like to revisit.  The wind was fairly strong, which managed to kick up a good surf  and plenty of water crashing on the rocks.  I was traveling light, using only my 50 mm lens.  I found the limitations of the lens to be quite challenging.  I also took a few shots with the Holga, that I will post after I finish the roll.

Taken with a Canon 40D and  50mm f/1.8 II lens.

Another Trip to the Woods

March 7, 2009

This one was taken on the same trip at the last post.  I brought the Polaroid to try out the Fuji Fp3000B film.  I bought the pack over a year ago and it’s been sitting in the back of my fridge while I’ve been going through my stash of expired Polaroid film.  So far, I think it holds up to what I liked about Polaroid 667 and seems to be a worthy replacement.

Taken with a Polaroid Model 250.

Hello 2009

December 31, 2008

Another holiday snowstorm has me staying in for New Years and thinking about the summer.  This photograph was taken at Hazard Rock in Narragansett, RI, a place with pounding surf and treacherous rocks.  The plant and it’s reflection in this peaceful pool of water seems out of place in its environment.  You can vote for this photo at JPG Magazine.

Rocky Shoreline

I shot this shortly before it started to rain.  This spot is fairly close to where Narragansett Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean.
