Stairway to…….

April 27, 2012

I found this place in a trail guidebook.  It’s funny that I’ve been on the trails in this area a number of times and never made my way to this area.  It’s part of the remnants of an old public campground that closed many years ago.  Most people that hike in the area follow the river trail that leads to the waterfall.  On this particular trip, I decided to seek out the hillside trail and see what was left.

Reflections of Winter

January 28, 2011

It’s been tough photographing outside with all the snow we’ve had in the Northeast.  This is from one of the last snowstorms shooting from the deck.  I thought the reflections of light off the windows cast an interesting shadow.

I recently scanned another roll of negatives from last year and found this photograph.  I like the way it shows a sense of space and dimension.  Even though I think it’s totally different from what I saw in the viewfinder.  When using the Holga, I usually shoot the same scene with my digital.  I didn’t with this one.

New Work

July 29, 2009

I hurt my knee shortly after taking this shot.  But I was already halfway down the trail, so I continued on.  Passed a couple skinny-dipping in the cove up near the point.  One of them heard my footsteps and said “We’ve got company,” but I didn’t pay any attention to them.  Maybe one of them would have posed for my class assignment!

So I’m sitting here in front of the computer with an ice pack on my knee, processing photographs and wondering how long I’m out of commission.  My last shoot for the Fine Art class went very well, except I need to edit down to 12 photographs.

Last One (I Promise!)

April 16, 2009

I took this photograph on the same trip as this one.  I wanted to have basically the same shot to compare my digital with the Holga and the Polaroid.  The film was damaged, so my Holga shot of this didn’t come out.  Maybe next time!

First Shots With the Holga

April 5, 2009

I finally got the first roll of film developed. I brought the camera with me on a trip to the woods and shot a couple of frames of the old car I’ve posted so often. I left the 6×6 mask in the camera to see what would happen. Now I’ve taken it out and taped up the inside of the camera.

Back Into The Woods

March 19, 2009

This is a shot from my trip to the John Chafee nature preserve at Rome Point. I like the starkness of the winter landscape. After I shot this photograph, I saw a small herd of deer, but they weren’t posing that day.  I wasn’t going to post this one because I thought it was overexposed.  But I showed it to a friend and she really liked it.

Another Trip to the Woods

March 7, 2009

This one was taken on the same trip at the last post.  I brought the Polaroid to try out the Fuji Fp3000B film.  I bought the pack over a year ago and it’s been sitting in the back of my fridge while I’ve been going through my stash of expired Polaroid film.  So far, I think it holds up to what I liked about Polaroid 667 and seems to be a worthy replacement.

Old Car In The Woods

March 2, 2009

I’ve shot this old car in the woods on a number of occasions. It seems that no matter how many times I go back to a place, I can always find something I didn’t notice the last time. And I’m sure I’ll find something different next time I visit.  It was my first time using the Fuji Black & White film and I’m happy with the result.
